We were incredibly fortunate to have a few sponsors help us out with gear on our hike on our kayak circumnavigation. These trips are expensive and gear heavy so we really couldn’t do it without our sponsors. Take a few minutes and check out these great companies. They really helped us out. If you have a few spare seconds send them a quick email and let them know you appreciate them supporting us. It lets them know that their investment was worth while and helps support other adventurers in the future.
Granite Gear, based out Two Harbors, MN on Lake Superior, makes high quality dry bags and great back packs, as well as a whole host of other great products. They also have a rock solid commitment to the environment. We relied heavily on our dry bags to keep us warm and safe and Granite Gear never let us down.
Aquapac manufactures top of the line waterproof cases for electronics and other important items. On our Lake Superior trip we trusted them with all of our camera and video equipment as well as our phones and radios. Their products make them good and their environmental stances make them great. Next time you need something unquestionably waterproof look to Aquapac.
Badger Balm is a perfect example of how a company can be both environmentally friendly and still produce amazing products. We relied solely on Badger’s Anti-Bug Balm to keep away the hordes of mosquitoes that frequent the shoreline and were never disappointed. In clouds so thick we could barely see we hardly got bitten and all with an awesome smell and without harsh chemicals.
Headsweats makes amazing headwear. Matt has worn one of their SuperVisors for years including on his 2008 thru hike of the Appalachian Trail. Having dreadlocked hair made finding hats an issue for both of us and Headsweats not only solved the problem but created a solution that has greatly improved our adventures. Even post dreadlocks, we continue to use their head wear in all seasons and on all of our adventures.
Down Wind Sports of Houghton and Marquette is Upper Michigan’s premier adventure outfitter and have been long time friends and supporters of ours. When we need gear we go to Down Wind. It’s just that simple. Great people and a great resource. If you are in the UP it would be well worth your time to stop in say hello. Tell them we sent you.
You could be our next sponsor! We are constantly looking for companies and individuals to work with who are able to provide gear or financial support. If you are interested in helping us chase our dreams, or think that we could help you in any way, please contact us.
